Based on the two videos we watched in class, answer the following questions:
- Based on what you saw in these videos describe what you think a typical day in the life of an African person your age might have been before Europeans set up colonies?
- Which sciences were important in helping Europeans get to India by ship?
- Opinion: As you saw in the video trading slaves was a common part of life in African society. When Europeans settled they took advantage of this slave trade. How much should we hold Europeans responsible for the way slaves were treated during colonial times?
1. The life of an African would of been peaceful, settled and calm. They wouldn't have to worry about people breathing down the their necks and seeing if they are obeying the rules of the Europeans. The people didn't get threatened they didn't have to be scared about losing their hands if they did something wrong.

3. We should hold Europeans all the way responsible for the way slaves were treated because if it wasn't for the Europeans coming into the Africans lives they would of still had their cultures and beliefs of the way they lived their lives.
1. I think a 15 year old in Africa would work quite a lot, helping with the farming, and irrigation. And also harvesting what ever other resources they have. They would probably be Muslim and animism and they would practice there religion. And they would also have to work for there food there probably wasn't money left over when they were done.

3. Well I think we should just think of them as we always have. Because It wasn't all the Europeans who did it and it wasn't the majorities plan, it was the leaders of the country that decided what to do.
1. i think life would of been hard, but also peacful. They were free to make their own decisions. they would have a hard days work hunting for their food and clothes and shelter. they were probably wild.

3.i think the Europeans had absolutley no right to come into a country where they dont belong and just take over and treat the indigenuous people how they did when it was their rightfully owned country. it was unfair how they made them slaves, took their resources and their land and made them prisoners in what used to be their homes. i think the europeans were ignorant and selfish.. maybe even bad people. they thought they owned the world.
1. probably a whole lot more normal and free. They wouldnt have to fear losing their hands or being killed. they would most likely have felt a lot safer and not like a stranger in their own land.

3. a lot, because before slaves were being traded and treated unfairly but when the Europeans settled they took it to another level. they started taking advantage of trading slaves. if they didnt treat the africans like that they would probably still have a lot of their cultures and bielefs still and wouldnt be stereotyped now a days.
1. Before the Europeans got to Africa, their lives probably would have involved a lot of hunting and gathering, and they also did farming and stuff like that. A lot of people in the North were Muslim, and in the south they believed in animism. They probably fought each other like the Zulu and stuff.

3. They should be held responsible for what they did because they treated the people as if they weren't people and didn't care how much pain they were cause and work they had to do, and that was the way all the white people saw them so it happened a lot.
1. i think for people our age they would have spent their day picking wild plants and hunting animals for food. as the time went by though they would have started planting crops. life would have been hard for them but they would have been more free before the europeans came.

3.europeans treated the african society horribly. there could have been a better way then having them taken as slaves. i dont think that they should take all the blame for what they did. they didnt know any better and thats what they believed they should do. would we want people judging us for what they did? no we dont want to be thought of the same way. even though many say that they treated people so bad back then in most places it hasnt changed. they may not be as violent but people are still judged for things like their race and religion. we like to think that the wrld has evolved all the way but the truth is that it hasnt.
1. I think a typical day would be a lot of hard work, it would be crowed with people. They would be hunting the wild and gathering food. They believed everything had a sprit and were had strong beliefs.

3. I think they are pretty responsible because they were kind of the leaders and all the other countries and kingdoms just followed the trend and treated the slaves very bad. They took advantage of them and just thought they had control as soon as they came across the country. It wasn't fair how they made the indiguous people prisoners in their own country. The Europeans didn't care about anyone but themselves they were very self centered and selfish.
1. I think that a typical day would be a lot more normal and free. they would be less fearful about about being killed or harmed. But also they would be hard at work and helping with the family's resources and such.

3. I think that the eropeans were held pretty responible because they took advantage of the slaves. The africans were still people and didnt deserve to be treated that unfairly. They were good off before the eropeans came. And because the eropeans the africans had a loss of culture and beliefs.

3.the europeans should be 100% responsible for the way the slaves were treated considering the europeans were the ones that captured the slaves and treated them the way they were treated.
